In this show Lorena Germán speaks to teachers about the importance of creating safe spaces, healing spaces, and using curriculum to expand students’ understanding of what it means to be culturally responsive and anti-racist. One of the ways to do this is to build your PLN and by tapping into organizations like NCTE for the language and the community needed to do the heart work.
Lorena Germán is an ELA teacher, teacher-leader, curriculum designer, author, and speaker. She is an advocate for culturally sustaining pedagogy anti-racist education. She is the chair of the National Council of English Teacher’s Committee Against Racism and Bias in the Teaching of English and she is the founder of “The Multicultural Classroom.” Finally, she is the co-founder of #DisruptTexts and the Director of Pedagogy at EduColor.
